The Highland Classic Motorcycle Club was formed in May 1983 to bring together, on a regular basis, people who had a common interest in older British, European and American motorcycles. By 1986 this had changed to include Japanese motorcycles over 20 years old. This was later amended to included all motorcycles over 15 years old.
Our Aim is to cater for all interests and aspects of road motorcycling, from restorations, to general care and maintenance, and general road riding, whether you own a Veteran, Classic or fairly modern machine (over 15 years old) and to encourage and promote the use of older motorcycles.
Membership stands at around 60 members, from various age groups and with a wide range of motorcycle knowledge and experience. They come from as far a field as Tain, Portree, Grantown, Elgin and Banff, with some members residing in Edinburgh and the Midlands.
The membership fees are :- Full Annual Subscription - £8.00. Associated annual subscription £2.00. For new members joining after the 1st January there is 6 month membership for £4.00.
These are renewable on or before the 1st August each year.
History of the Club A booklet with the full history of the club was produced for the clubs twentieth anniversary, and details the clubs humble beginnings in 1983 with Bob Fraser and Alastair Alexander, the first Loch Ness Rally, and much more, right up to May 2003. Some original copies are still available from the Mrs Sue Noble, producer of the booklet. Update, Sue has updated the book to cover the first 25 years of the club, which will be given to new members on joining, old members will get a small booklet covering the last 5 years.

Benefits of being a Club Member - Monthly meeting which are held at the Chieftain Hotel, Milburn Road, Inverness, on the first Tuesday of each month starting at
8 pm from February to December. These meeting can include discussions, films, guest speakers and the occasional quiz, plus the company of other bikers. The chance to discuss old motorcycles with people who are interested and willing to exchange information and ideas.
There are Social events organised throughout the year, these include, Treasurer Hunts, 10 Pin Bowling Nights, BBQ and other various gatherings to which family and friends are invited. There is also the regular club run.

An annual calendar of local and notification of national events.

Automatic membership of The British Motorcycle Federation (BMF) and the Scottish Vintage Vehicle Federation (SVVF).

Club Runs - These usually take place on the last Sunday of the month, from April to November. They cover about 40 to 100 miles and leave from 4 different starting points, depending on the route to be taken, they are, Inverness, the National Hotel Dingwall, the harbour at Nairn and Forres.

The Loch Ness Rally - This run is the show piece of the club and is organised by the HCMC and takes place on the second Sunday in June. This event had been held at the Loch Ness House Hotel, Inverness for the last 25 years, but sadly the hotel closed in October 2008. The venue for future Loch Ness Rally is now the Fairways, Inverness. The Loch Ness Rally incorporates a country run of about 75 miles in the scenic Loch Ness Area. There are Concourse categories (Veteran to Modern Classic) as well as Club Trophy Awards, a cash prize raffle, plus other small prizes to be won, and for those who want, a meal can be ordered for after the run. The run is usually well attended with around 100 entries and a wide range of machine on show.
